Despite still partially recovering from post-Christmas party indulgence, my attentions have now been diverted to more excitable things – building my SS 2012 wardrobe.
After having a sneaky peak at this year’s hottest trends, (read below for some tips) I am ridiculously excited at the exuberent candy-coloured palettes and sporty separates that are abundant this spring.
Ultra girly silhouettes and iridescent, shiny fabrics also make this season extra magical.
Whilst pretty dresses in lace and feathers make a comeback, it was the mermaid inspired dresses and skirts that intrigued us most.
Shimmery metallic dresses and jumpers made a dramatic impact on the runway, with models sporting an array of covetable garments in high-octane fabrics.
Christopher Kane, Karl Lagerfield and Marc Jacobs all jumped on the bandwagon, with sheen being this season’s ultra must have.
I’m saving for this amazing spearmint sweater from American brand Acne right now. This will be stunning when paired with a metallic maxi skirt or silver jeans this summer.
Colour is both essential and indespensible this year, clash your candy-coloured spring pieces together for an eclectic finish.
This season will also see 90s grunge make an appearance, with lashings of torn denim, jersey fabrics and distressed jeans.
Customise an old denim jacket until it looks exceedingly worn to get this seasons 90s grunge look, or if you’re looking for a quick fix grab this Topshop number and throw it over a rock tee and leather jacket.
