Catwalk Copycat…70s Trend

Retro fashion has never looked so authentic. This year’s Autumn / Winter collection’s saw 1960s and 1970s influences making a huge comeback with swing skirts and 70s style wide-legged trousers gracing the catwalks.

This look represents pure retro and buttoned up collars are worn underneath shaggy coats and tucked into tailored trousers and pelmet skirts. Tweed fabrics and silk blouses have a vintage feel about them and clashing, earthy colours such as burnt orange, burgundies and browns help recreate this 70s look. With the addition of leather and a modern twist, it’s a whole new rebirth of hippy style.

Polo necks are not to be laughed at anymore, they appear classy when worn with tailored trousers and a camel coat that says ‘don’t mess.’ This look is observantly sophisticated and a little less bohemian this time around. For accessories think giant platforms, floppy hats and layered jewels. Satchel bags add a smart vintage vibe to an outfit.

Chloe's collection featured silk blouses and neutral 70s style trousers to recreate a sophisticated, vintage vibe.

What is great about this retro look is classic cuts such as the wide-legged trousers and A-line skirts look great on just about anyone. This look is all about the confidence. Be bold and experiment with an array of textures, colours and fabrics. High collared and pussy-bow blouses will look great with flared trousers and for eveningwear, think 70s disco, lurex and metallic dresses will look amazing when paired with tuxedo jackets and layered necklaces. Think ‘ Saturday Night Fever’ and Bianca Jagger intertwined. Team thigh high boots with hotpants and a sequin jumper for a 70s sex kitten look.

If you really love this look, consider getting 70s style bangs cut as this will ultimately add edge to your image.
