This Year’s Autumn / Winter Must Haves for 2010!

2 Aug

The greatest thing about Winter…

Even clogs have been given a winter makeover.

It’s the beginning of August and already the doom and gloom of winter seems to be lingering ahead and we’re stuck on what to wear thanks to Britain’s annoyingly inconsistent weather.

Many of us are still suffering from a collaboration of sunburn and Pimms hangover’s and yet it seems that Autumn is approaching a little too closely,  we’re already needing to ditch our denim shorts in favour of rain coats and umbrella’s.

If you’re wondering whether to start updating your Autumn / Winter wardrobe then Fashion Hungry is here to help keep you up to date on some of the biggest trends set to storm high street stores this winter.

Autumn / Winter Must Haves!

This winter is still all about the grunge. Mixing up glam metallics with shredded tights and biker aviator jackets looks edgy yet feminine and brings a British rock feel to fashion.

Oversized rock tees are young, cool and comfortable and are teamed with an array of textures such as metallics, lace and leather. Layering is key this winter and its about showing off your dark side and adding a playful edge with animated accessories and flashes of colour.

Red is a massive colour trend this Autumn/Winter and has been highlighted in many of 2010 collections including Valentino and Christian Dior who combined a scarlet skirt suit with red lips for high impact glamour.

Green and Camel are the new neutrals to be seen in and moss green boots and khaki dresses were showcased in collections such as Burberry Prorsum and Chloe where khaki made a huge comeback.

Faux fur and sheepskin is another trend set to be huge this winter and has already been spotted early in high street stores such as Topshop and Dorothy Perkins.

The maxi won’t be going anywhere this Winter however jersey has been replaced with chiffon and metallics and is teamed with faux fur and chunky knits.

Here is some of my favourite high street winter buys, particularly River Island’s amazing copy of the aviator jacket.

How I’ll be wearing the winter trends…

At the top of my to buy list will most definitely be the aviator jacket. I love leather and this cosy sheepskin coated version will look amazing when teamed with a khaki mini-dress or black skinnies and a rock t-shirt.

The romantic shorts are the ultimate bargain and I’ll be wearing mine with my black lace body and a blazer for a smart look or with tights, studded boots and a knitted jumper for a more casual, day-wear look.

THE ROCK VEST, £19.99 River Island. Rock Tee's have been seen all over the place lately, from celeb to high street stores such as Topshop and H&M. The rock tee is a must this winter as it is teamed greatly with the grunge-gothic couture look next season. Pair an oversized rock tee with grungy leggings or stockings for a punky look but be sure to add plenty of eyeliner.

THE GLAM BOOT, £140 River Island. These super glam boots will make shoe lovers drool and can be worn with jeans, dresses, shorts you name it! The perfect mix of goth and glamour.

THE METALLIC MAXI, £85 Principles by Ben De Lisi. This stunning maxi exudes 70s glamour and will make you look like a goddess at christmas parties this year.

THE ROMANTIC SHORTS £13, Primark. Yes you heard it right. These amazing shorts are just £13 from our favourite bargain store Primarni! The bow detail teamed against the romantic rose fabric make these shorts comparable with the best of the designer pairs and will look wonderful when teamed with a wet look bodysuit and platform wedges.

THE AVIATOR JACKET, River Island £59.99. The aviator is Winter's most wanted jacket. Sheepskin is huge this year and the aviator jacket is the best way to wear this edgy look. Throw an aviator over a rock tee and maxi skirt for a relaxed and cool look.

THE RED SHOE, £54.99 Schuh. Red is going to be massive this winter which is great to hear because there's a red out there to suit everyone! These amazing ruffle sandals will brighten up an LBD and combine two trends in one: Red and ruffles - Hooray!

THE LACE SHIRT, £39 Julien Macdonald at Debenhams. This amazing petrol blue shirt will look amazing teamed with leather trousers or tucked into denim hotpants aka Alexa Chung. It has a slightly retro 80s feel to it and can be worn under a blazer for a cool adrogynous look. A must have!
