The greatest thing about Winter…
It’s the beginning of August and already the doom and gloom of winter seems to be lingering ahead and we’re stuck on what to wear thanks to Britain’s annoyingly inconsistent weather.
Many of us are still suffering from a collaboration of sunburn and Pimms hangover’s and yet it seems that Autumn is approaching a little too closely, we’re already needing to ditch our denim shorts in favour of rain coats and umbrella’s.
If you’re wondering whether to start updating your Autumn / Winter wardrobe then Fashion Hungry is here to help keep you up to date on some of the biggest trends set to storm high street stores this winter.
Autumn / Winter Must Haves!
This winter is still all about the grunge. Mixing up glam metallics with shredded tights and biker aviator jackets looks edgy yet feminine and brings a British rock feel to fashion.
Oversized rock tees are young, cool and comfortable and are teamed with an array of textures such as metallics, lace and leather. Layering is key this winter and its about showing off your dark side and adding a playful edge with animated accessories and flashes of colour.
Red is a massive colour trend this Autumn/Winter and has been highlighted in many of 2010 collections including Valentino and Christian Dior who combined a scarlet skirt suit with red lips for high impact glamour.
Green and Camel are the new neutrals to be seen in and moss green boots and khaki dresses were showcased in collections such as Burberry Prorsum and Chloe where khaki made a huge comeback.
Faux fur and sheepskin is another trend set to be huge this winter and has already been spotted early in high street stores such as Topshop and Dorothy Perkins.
The maxi won’t be going anywhere this Winter however jersey has been replaced with chiffon and metallics and is teamed with faux fur and chunky knits.
Here is some of my favourite high street winter buys, particularly River Island’s amazing copy of the aviator jacket.
How I’ll be wearing the winter trends…
At the top of my to buy list will most definitely be the aviator jacket. I love leather and this cosy sheepskin coated version will look amazing when teamed with a khaki mini-dress or black skinnies and a rock t-shirt.
The romantic shorts are the ultimate bargain and I’ll be wearing mine with my black lace body and a blazer for a smart look or with tights, studded boots and a knitted jumper for a more casual, day-wear look.
