If there’s anyone’s makeup look I envy most – it’s Kim Kardashian’s. Always flawless, Kim usually highlights her many best assets, Eyes, cheekbones and lips with makeup.
The main look she goes for is a sultry, smokey eye and nude lips. This look suits about anybody and is perfect for any occasion, whether it be a date, gig, party or dinner. The look is relatively easy to achieve once you have the right tools. Here’s my step by step guide to achieving this glamourous makeup look.
Step One – Base: First of all moisturise and prime the skin before applying foundation. This allows makeup the perfect canvas and will ensure it lasts from dawn until dusk.
Kim’s base is quite matte with a high coverage. Use a matte foundation such as Chanel Mat Lumiere £30 (blowout) or Bourjois Healthy Glow foundation £6.99 (budget) on the skin using fingers or a Kabuki brush. Kim uses this to buff the foundation on the skin for a natural coverage.
Step Two – Eyes: This is quite a tricky one if your bad with doing eye makeup. Here’s my easy method. First pat on a dark metallic or brown coloured eyeshadow onto the lids with an eyeshadow brush. Mac eyeshadow in Satin Taupe £12 is the perfect shade for smokey eyes if you want this look down to a T. Smudge just slightly around the curve on top of the eyelids and use a blending brush to blend it altogether.
3) Next apply a kohl eyeshadow in the inner rims of your lower eyes and along the top lash line if you can. Use a gel eyeliner such as Mac Fluidline £12.50 with a liner brush for the top lids and draw a straight line across with a slight flick at the end. This is achieved easiest by closing one eye and drawing thinly across the top lid.
4) Using a black eyeshadow, sightly shade the outer parts of the top lids and use a blending brush to blend the taupe eyeshadow and the black one together. The trick is to blend the shades together for a professional smokey finish.
Step 5 – Lashes: Kim has super long lashes and usually wears falsies so layer lashings of volumising mascara first and then add a pair of super long falsies such as Naturalites Glamour lashes £5. Mac also have amazing pairs that they will even apply for you if your willing to fork out a bit more money.
Step 6 – After the eyes are finished apply a under-eye concealor to banish eye bags or smudges. YSL Touche’ Eclat £24 is probably the best one out there however Boots No.7 also has an amazing radiance pen at around £10 that gives YSL a run for their money!
Step 7 – Cheeks: Kim usually wears a subtle peachy pink blusher to give her highlight her amazing cheekbones. This colour also suits almost anybodies complexion and brightens the skin right away. Apply a natural blush such as Mac blush in Peaches or No.7 blush in Apricot. Use a blusher brush and smile as you sweep up on the apples and temples of the cheeks.
Step 8 – Lips: Finally the lips! Kim wears a fabulous range of nude colours on her lips but in one of her makeup blogs she swears by Mac Lipstick in Angel £12. This baby pink nude suits almost everyone and makes the lips look fuller. Softly line lips first with a matching lipliner or nude liner ro define lips before applying.
Step 9 – The finishing touches. After applying lipstick, blot and reapply. Add a nude gloss such as Mac Lipglass in Florabundance £12.50 if you feel the need for gloss. Voile’! A gorgeous Kim Kardashian inspired makeup look.
